35below Late Night Comedy

Throughout the summer, laughter will pour from the doors of 35below, Asheville Community Theatre's black box theatre. Asheville Community Theatre is proud to announce the Late Night Comedy Series, 43 different performances over 10 weeks from 5 different local comedy troupes. From June 12 through August 23, performances will occur every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm - and this summer, we've even got a few shows on Wednesday nights. Tickets are $10 and will be sold in advance through the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office. Remaining tickets will be sold in the 35below lobby.

The performing groups are the hottest improv and sketch comedy troupes in Western North Carolina. The OxyMorons, an Asheville based troupe, will open the series and tackle the improv side of comedy. The Feral Chihuahuas, an Asheville based troupe with a wickedly funny brand of sketch comedy, anchor the series with TWO performances every Saturday night (well - almost - they take a much needed rest on Saturday, July 19). LYLAS, Asheville's only all-female sketch comedy troupe, will perform a mix of their old and new original material. Scottch Tomedy, a collaboration between Scott Bunn and Tom Chalmers, will perform an original sketch show in July. Also performing in July are Karen Stobbe and Mondy Carter, a husband and wife team who will bring their "improviliciousness with a touch of sketchatude" to the 35below stage for the first time with their show, Mondy and Me. ACT's Comedy for Teens class show off their sharp, smart improv skills. And we're excited to introduce I Can't Believe It's Not HELL - an all new show where audience members (that's you) will read painfully awkward diary entries from 7th grade, awful poetry that you honestly thought was deeply soulful, and other equally unintentionally entertaining pieces that we all have squirrelled away.
